WHY IS MY DASANI® BOTTLE LIGHTER?
We are reducing the weight of our DASANI® bottles in order to enhance resource efficiency. Lighter weight bottles require less plastic which helps to conserve natural resources and lower CO2 emissions.
HOW MUCH LIGHTER ARE THESE BOTTLES?
The weight of DASANI® bottles has been reduced by 30% since the brand's inception.
IS MY DASANI® BOTTLE RECYCLABLE?
Yes, the DASANI® bottle is 100% recyclable. In fact, during the initial design process we worked closely with recyclers to optimize every aspect of the DASANI® package for recycling - including the cap, label, inks and glues. Even the light blue color of the bottle was specifically selected due to its desirability by recyclers over alternative options.
WHY SHOULD I RECYCLE?
Help your local and global community by recycling. Recycling plastic requires less energy than producing bottles with new materials, and reduces waste and greenhouse gases. Every empty bottle is full of potential. Plastic bottles can be recycled into many things: backpacks, t-shirts, rugs... even new bottles. So when yours is empty, please give it back.
WHAT IS THE COCA-COLA COMPANY DOING TO MINIMIZE WASTE FROM PRODUCT PACKAGING IN ORDER TO AVOID ITS PLACEMENT IN LANDFILLS?
TCCC is taking responsibility for the packaging that we place in the market by working to ensure that our bottles and cans are recycled and reused.
We just opened the world's largest bottle-to-bottle recycling plant in Spartanburg, S.C., capable of producing 100 million pounds of recycled PET for use in our bottles. This plant is part of a continuing effort by Coca-Cola to support recycling in key markets and increase access to recycled content.
We invested more than $60 million to build the Spartanburg plant and to support recycling infrastructure through other key programs such as:
-
Coca-Cola Recycling (CCR) - CCR is TCCC's own program that creates innovative collection programs at colleges and universities, office buildings and retail centers, as well as major sporting events, music festivals and other large scale events to drive recycling behavior among consumers.
-
RecycleBank- The Coca-Cola Company is the official beverage sponsor of this innovative curbside collection program, which works to increase household recycling rates by offering incentives to consumers. DASANI® partnered with RecycleBank to initiate a pilot recycling program on college campuses.
-
RecycleMania and the Bin Grant Program - Our company remains dedicated to programs that encourage students to join the recycling effort

WHAT DOES WATER NEUTRALITY MEAN?
Our company is working towards a goal to return to communities and nature an amount of water equivalent to what we use in all of our beverages and their production. This means reducing the amount of water used to produce our beverages, recycling water used for manufacturing processes so it can be returned safely to the environment, and replenishing water in communities and nature through locally relevant projects. This aspirational goal will be a multi-year journey for our entire system, but is a journey we have begun and will continue to pursue. Together with our bottlers, we hope to establish a water-sustainable business on a global scale.
